Hi there!
I’m Chris Jackson, a tutor and profoundly gifted 2e adult. I give 2e students the confidence to succeed by helping them discover their inborn talents. Because these learners often have an uneven skill set (asynchrony), I build their problem solving and reasoning skills, which are less impacted by processing speed and working memory. Usually, parents notice large, unexplainable variations in their twice-exceptional child’s test scores. For example, 2e kids may score in the 99th percentile in one domain but only in the 10th percentile in another. These gaps frustrate kids, parents, and teachers.
I empower 2e learners, who have amazing untapped skills, but who need personalized teaching to bring out this potential. Often, these students benefit from curriculum enrichment combined with basic skill remediation. For instance, some 2e students excel at untimed tasks but fail timed standardized tests. To this end, I have built several apps to help students learn skills effectively. I also write about strategies to navigate school and work. As a 2e person myself, I am very compassionate with the struggles of other 2e students – I know how to motivate these learners to success!
I hold a BA from UC Berkeley in Applied Mathematics and English. I have passed the CSET subtests (California Educator Credentialing Exams) in algebra, number theory, and calculus. In addition to math, I tutor reading comprehension, and I speak French.
I tutor in person or on Zoom, whichever works best for students. I accept payment through PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo.
