Hi there!
I’m Chris Jackson, and I am a tutor. I specialize working with twice-exceptional (2e) students, helping them discover their inborn talents and giving them the confidence to succeed. I understand the impact of asynchronous development (uneven skill set) on student learning, focusing on building student problem solving and reasoning skills, which are less impacted by processing speed and working memory.
I seek to empower 2e learners, who have tremendous untapped skills, but who need an individualized teaching approach to bring out this potential. I recognize that 2e students benefit from curriculum enrichment combined with techniques to refine basic skills. To this end, I have built several apps to help students retain knowledge and skills effectively. As a 2e person myself, I am very compassionate with the struggles of other 2e students, and I know how to make these learners thrive.
I hold a BA from UC Berkeley in Applied Mathematics and English. I have passed the CSET subtests (California Educator Credentialing Exams) in algebra, number theory, and calculus. In addition to math, I also tutor reading comprehension skills, and I speak French.
I tutor in person or on Zoom, whichever works best for students. I accept payment through PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo.
